Sure cuts a lot advent boxes

I made these advent boxes today using the file Dan is giving away this week this is the link http://dan99.blogspot.com/2008/10/saturday-freebie-21-with-video-tutorial.html
Thought I would put them in from of the fire for the photo. Would not be a great idea to keep them there because my fire gets so hot and I think the boxes would go up in flames also and the real reason being the chocolates would melt!!!!

Challenge layout - fun

This is a layout I have done for a challenge layout at http://cleocrafts.blogspot.com/ I have kind of followed their sketch but have changed quite a lot to suit the size photo I used.
I am posting this in a rush!, I will add the stash used hopefully tomorrow, I have been so busy the past few days that's why I have not blogged. My Santa book is almost finished and I hope to share it with you tomorrow.

Here is the stash I used.... The rocket paper is basic grey - Oh Baby boy, I cut out the stars and the rockets and inked the edgesThe main background paper is also basic grey but I can't remember which one, I sewed around the edges and distressed them and then finally inked. The FUN lettering comes from Autumn leaves, the office line punch out tags letters A through to Z. I also inked the edges and placed a brad in them and a ribbon through them. The zig zag strip down the edge was originally a Bazzill Basic Just the Edge Card stock strip which I did not have in the correct colour so I inked it with Tim Holtz Distress ink using first the Shabby Shutter and then the Peeled paint. I used white acrylic paint to soften the edges and randomly placed a variety of brad through it.

Sure Cuts A lot Word book

Well I spent all day yesterday trying to make a word book. I first tried in inkscape, got confused then moved on to SCAL, the went back to inkscape BUT in the end I made this in SCAL. It was a very long winded process!! However next time I hope it will be quicker as I now know what I am doing. Really it needed to be done in chipboard BUT I had run out, so red card had to do. I think once photos are stuck down it will be sturdy enough. I painted white around the edges to highlight them. Over the next few days I hope to show you the finished project.

Cuttlebug embossed background

Again another card along the same lines. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background and then ran some pink chalk over the whole area. I ripped a piece of pink spotty paper to represent a hill and stamped onto the same paper using the Christmas tree from the Penny Black giving and receiving stamps. I cut these out and stuck them on using foam pads to give them a bit of dimension. I stamped jingle bells using a clear stamp from Dovecraft. Finally I used some crystal Stickles to give it some sparkle.

Christmas Wall Hanging - cricut

As you might be able to tell I like the wall hanging idea at the moment. I cut out the Christmas ornaments from the Joys of the Season cartridge. They measure 5"

Using Lemon Juice to distress paper

I saw this technique in a magazine a while ago and thought I would give it a try. I am quite pleased with the results. The second journaling panel was created by placing the bottom of the bottle in the lemon juice.
I stuck the finished paper onto some chipboard and ran it through my BIG SHOT and the inked the edges.

This is the equipment I used, the cloth was to clean up the mess I made.
