I thought I would share my latest crochet project with you
The pattern I used can be found here
Having had such interest in this scarf I thought I would add further information for you. I have not been able to remember the wool or the size hook I used. I made the one bellow using Patons Fab Big wool and a 10mm hook. The pattern was changed, I only chained 20 so the width was 10" and the length was 37". It was so quick to make! I hope you like it!
I love this!! Did you follow the pattern exactally? It looks different in the other picture.
ReplyDeleteTiff
It was in fact a bit shorter than the pattern but I used thicker wool (I think). I am rather new to crochet so I might have gone wrong but I did try to follow the pattern. Really glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteCould you show a picture of what it looks like unwrapped?
DeleteCan you please tell me exactly how to wrap this around my neck? And I mean step by step
DeleteThat is fab. Looks lovely and cosy.
ReplyDeleteYour wedding cake is absolutely gorgeous.
I love this one oppose to the one on ravelry. what is the length and width of yours?
ReplyDeleteThanks It is 33" X 8"
ReplyDeleteLove this one- what kind of wool did you use?
ReplyDeletei like yours more then the original pattern :) it's looser en has more"body" very nice!
ReplyDeleteMay I ask what size hook and what weight of yarn you used for this? The yarn recommended in the pattern no longer exists. (I tried to google it.) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou made such a pretty scarf! Great job! I'd love to make one for myself! (I hope you don't mind mine will be inspired by yours!)
ReplyDeleteYour version is soo much prettier...have you posted details of your version?
ReplyDeleteI also like yours better. I would also like details. What yarn, what size hook. It almost looks like you used chenille. Can you please give details. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteI would love details on your version as well. What type yarn, 1 strand or 2 held together, size needle. It is absolutely beautiful. It would make a great Christmas present for my sister and friends. :o)
ReplyDeleteHi all I am glad you love it. As for the yarn and the size hook used I will have to get back to you. I will have to go to the shop where I got the yearn from to let you know and experiment with the hook size. Hopefully going to the shop tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteI can play with the hook size .. what kind of wool did you use?
ReplyDeleteIf you sold these I would totally buy one!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Waiting on wool type! Great job :-) I agree with Carmen, if you sold this I would buy one!
ReplyDeleteOmg... I'm not English speaking, that's why I totally don't understand the second row :( Is it the same like the first one, like some box pattern.. or what?
ReplyDeleteCan someone help me?
(Row 2: DC in each DC and CH1 space across. CH 2 Turn)
(cont.)
ReplyDeleteif so, how do you do the 3 row? It leaves big gaps and isn't so tight as in the picture...
@anonymous-I'm a fairly beginner crocheted when it comes to reading patterns, but I looked at the pattern on ravelry. On the second row you should DC in the first 2 stitches, which should be DC, then DC in the chain 1 space from row 1 when you skipped a chain. Then DC in each DC and chain 1 from row 1. Then in row 3 you will be alternately stitching in the front post, then back post. Front post, back post. All the way to the end then DC, chain 2, and turn. Row 4 is worked the same but starts with DC in th back post. Hope that's right and helps!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine!
ReplyDeleteI love your scarf!! Were you able to find out the name of the type of yarn you used and hook size? I would love to make this for my sister for Christmas. Thank you!
To those of you who were waiting on the yarn type and hook size, I am really sorry I just can't work out what I used. However, I have referenced the yarn and the hook size for the second one I did. Sorry
ReplyDeletewow...I love that. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI would love to buy one if you would be willing to make another.
ReplyDeleteLet me know,

ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that necklace in the first picture?? I LOVE it!! :)
ReplyDeletefound this on pinterest--it's just lovely! i'm hoping to make one for myself...you know...once i get all 4000000 of my other projects finished! haha!
ReplyDeletethanks again!
your scarf is delightful :)
ReplyDeletedo you know where you got the metal body thing to show your scarf on? I crochet as well and make a lot of scarves but don't have anything pretty like that to put mine on to take pictures with .
Thanks :)
just beautiful and i am so much quicker with crochet. thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteI have a question for this pattern. I've started, I also chained 20 (I'm using a bulky yarn and large hook). I chained 20, then DC in second chain from hook. I'm assuming then I'll have 19 stitches across for the entire project. That means I start with a FPDC and finish with a FPDC, therefore the 4th row is supposed to be a BPDC but it wouldn't make the lattice effect. Am I missing something? It's just not adding up.
ReplyDeleteFor Sale? ~ Angela
ReplyDeleteBy using this yarn, you made a magnificent scarf, congratulations!

Im with Anonymous from Dec 5th.. I chained the 20 at first and now at row 3 and 4 am not getting a lattice, but instead just rows of BPDC and FPDC. Is it correct to just switch the pattern to make it lattice bec of the original chain 20 or did I do something wrong?
ReplyDeleteI made this and I love the way it turned out. I followed the pattern to the T and I agree, it's not a lattice. I still love the way it turned out!! And my friend that I'm giving it to is going to love it!!
ReplyDeleteAfter looking at the first picture really close, it looks like the first row was double crochet, chain one, and the second and remaining rows were worked as a double crochet in the open chain and chain one until desired length. I made mine in black with silver buttons and like I said, I love the way it turned out!!
ReplyDeleteTrying to find the pattern, looked quickly through the comments, but I didn't see it...Where can I find the pattern, love it.
ReplyDeletethe pattern is here...

I am re-learning crochet after 25 years of doing none, so I'm very rusty. Can anyone tell me whether the Ravelry pattern directions have those square button holes along the edging? I'm not reading it right, I think. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI realize this is an older post so I hope you find my question! First, your cowl is beautiful! My question, how much yarn is needed to crochet the cowl?
ReplyDeleteI found picture of scarf that I really like but I had no idea how to make it. I tried so many stiches to make it work. I hope anyone can help me :)
ReplyDeleteI've just finished making this scarf for my daughter, I doubled the yarn ro make it chunkier but used the same number of stitches in my starting chain as I wanted it to cover her shoulders. It ended up being quite a bit longer to fit properly, but it's beautiful! Oh btw it is a double crochet lattice, it's easy to do and the effect is lovely!

ReplyDeleteHappy that we've got it all sorted out. I'm still in love with your version of the pattern, you did an amazing job!
ReplyDeletePlease...still waiting, what kind of yarn did you use and what size of hook?
ReplyDeleteHook size N- Q
ReplyDelete6 Super chunky
I was wondering where you got your mannequin. It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCan any one help me, im dutch so reading a us pattern is very difficult for me.
ReplyDeleteRow 2 is very hard to understand could anyone explaine how to do:
DC in each DC and CH1 space across
I have tried different things but it just didn't work
thankyou
Double crochet in each double crochet and chain 1 space across.
DeleteDouble crochet in each double crochet and chain 1 space across.
DeleteI made one yesterday :) it was really easy and turned out pretty. I used wool ease thick and quick and size 10mm hook. I think I chained 23 and then double crocheted into the chain 21 and then chained one and skipped a chain and the next DC into the chain 19 and so on so that it would end with a DC in the very first chain of the starting chain. Then chained 2 and turned and did front post and back post dc's across then chain 2 and turn and then where the previous row's front post dc looks like a back post dc do a front post dc and likewise in the back posts, that creates the lattice effect. Wish I could post a picture but there doesn't seem to be an option. Thanks for posting such a beautiful scarf! Great inspiration from the original pattern :)
ReplyDeleteWhat were the finished measurements please? Length & width? I've got an idea but I need final dimensions
DeleteCorrection: on row 2 I followed the pattern with chain two, turn and then dc in each dc and chain one space all the way across before row 3 starting the front and back post dc's.
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteI know this pattern was posed a while ago and I apologize for asking now but I'm wondering if your fpdc and bpdc lined up and made ridges or if they were out of sync and looked more like lattice work? I can't tell from your picture? I'm making this for a secret Santa gift this year.
Thank you for posting this! I love it!
This is a great inspiring article.I am pretty much pleased with your good work. You put really very helpful information. Keep it up. Keep blogging. Looking to reading your next post.
